Used wax strips for the first time

So today’s the first time I’ve ever used wax strips on my own. I usually always use a razors but I decided to buy some to try it out and I definitely messed up. I mean I did what the instructions said, I would apply the strips, firmly smooth it and then rip it off fast. Maybe I’m just bad at it, but it keep getting stuck halfway and when i would peel it off all the wax residue would just stay on there. Now I got really sticky legs and armpits 😭, I tried scrubbing, and showering using hella soap but nothing worked. It’s a really uncomfortable feeling. What could I possibly use to get it off ??
