I love deathcore and some melodic death metal, but I can’t get into ‘’pure’’ or old school death metal. Help me out?

Okay, so I know I’m gonna probably gonna be made fun of but hear me out. I’m 27, I grew up on old BMTH (first two albums only), Emmure, Suicide Silence, and I occasionally like some melodic death metal. I’ve never really managed to just get into death metal. I’m not sure why, it just never clicked for me the same. Could someone point me in a good direction to get started with death metal?
