Truck drivers Thanksgiving
In 2018, I was on a dedicated account that got a delivery every Saturday morning. This customer was 2 full days from home, so I would have to start rolling Thursday morning. My wife decided to go with me so we could be together, and spent Tuesday and Wednesday making a lot of food we could take with us and heat up in the microwave.
About 2 hours after leaving home, the trailer gets a flat tire and I park and call for road service. Its going to be a while before someone can come out being a holiday. So at noon, we start getting our Thanksgiving meal ready. In the truck, 2 hours from home, in a parking lot. We sat there and ate Thanksgiving dinner cramped together in a semi cab sleeper. It wasn't glamorous, but we were together.
Ive spent many years on the road during Thanksgiving, but this one was most memorable.
