What is a Folio?

My investment in a mutual fund through SIP has been divided into 2 Folios. I had stopped SIP once, and started another in the same fund for date change. Is that what has caused 2 different Folios?

Also, what does it mean if 1 of them is tagged as 'demat'?

And will it make any difference while redeeming?
