Plywood safe ?
Hey everyone
I’m building an indoor hideout/cabin for my lop rabbit, and I’d love some advice about the type of wood I have.
Here are photos of my boards (attached above).
They are plywood panels, marked with a “HT – CH-90022” stamp on the side.
From what I can tell, they look like pine plywood but i'm not sure, with several layers together.
I did some research, and here’s what I’ve found so far, please correct me if I’m wrong:
- The “HT” mark means Heat Treated , so it was only heat-sterilized, not chemically treated
- The wood type looks like pine (softwood).
- However, since it’s plywood, it’s made of thin sheets glued together, and those glues often contain formaldehyde or phenolic resins
- That means it’s not great for the inside of the cabin, especially if my rabbit might chew or lick it.
So, my main question is:
Would you consider this type of plywood safe enough for indoor use ?
Or should I only use untreated solid pine or oak instead?
Thanks a lot! I just want to be 100% sure it’s safe before building his house
