“You should really stop staring at me like that.” It was loud as fuck at the house party Cassie and Blake attended with their friend group, but Cass heard every word. The blood rushed immediately to her face, and she tried to play it off by staring at her phone. She cleared her throat, “I don’t know what you mean.” Most of the other girls in their friend group were dissapeared in the midst of the party, and now it was just Cassie and Blake. Alone. The glow from the party lights painted Blake’s jaw in soft blue light making the veins on her hands like painted on valley's. They were distracting Cassie, as much as she tried her best not to stare. She imagined how they’d look if they were softly grasped around her neck. But then she pinched herself, willing away the thoughts. They were friends. And Blake was a player.

Cassie’s heart raced. “Like what exactly?” her voice fell to an almost whisper.

The words hung in the air for a moment.

Cassie didn’t answer. Her breath hitched, and her eyes darted up at Blake. Blake smiled, the look on Cassie’s face giving her the confirmation she needed. Slow and confident, she leaned forward, closing the gap between them. The tension was so thick, one could cut it with a knife. Her lips hovered opposite of Cassie’s, warmth just radiating off of them tickling her lips.
