What dishes should a Thanksgiving newbie include on their table?

Hi all

I'm originally from Europe and spent (collectively) about 2.5 years around Orlando & Miami (sadly never at Thanksgiving)... I adore the air of excitement on the lead up to this holiday, and every thanksgiving movie scene leaves me inspired to start celebrating it too.

I finally have family nearby again and would love to do a proper Thanksgiving meal for them this year - it will be my first time ever trying. I know the dishes and styles will vary, but I really want it to be authentic.... so what dishes should I definitely include (side dishes, sauces and deserts too please)

And, I'd love to hear any non food traditions too - thank you all so much! :)
