Anyone else feel ashamed by this ?
All over my village in S20 are Union Jacks flapping from the lamp posts and outside some houses .Ofcourse it's an individuals own choice what they do on their own property but I feel ashamed of them adorning all the main roads and some side streets .I know from local Facebook groups that the vast majority of the people putting them up are racists. When there was a plea to help with Rememberence Day events and putting up poppies there was a distinct lack of volunteers (yes I did volunter). What a terrible impression it makes to people driving through the village. We have very few poc living locally but the few I know feel at the very least uncomfortable about it .A guy who took one down that was on a lamp post right outside his property was photographed and " named and shamed " in local groups. I took his side and was also called names .I have lived here for many years and been happy for most of them but I don't feel comfortable living here anymore. Anyone else having similar experience in their local area ?
