Ready To Move On: Seeking Advice

Business

Hey guys, 35M. I love photography and it has been my entire world ever since COVID, after flunking out of college in my mid-twenties.

I did ok as a freelance photographer, but my business didn't grow as big as those of harder (or smarter)-working people in my country, and I must say, it's become increasingly commoditised and competitive over here.

At my age, I feel like I've hit my ceiling as a photographer; I would like to start doing less production work, but am also hoping to earn more than I've been earning, which means I'm really looking for a "smarter" play here.

I was wondering if any of you have ideas on what photographers can and should transition into after they've put the camera down? What can you see yourself doing, or if you've retired already, what are you doing now?

I've seen some people get into workshops and coaching, but others seem to have left the industry altogether. I love photography and will always capture images as a hobby, but I need something solid to earn my living, buy a house and hopefully create wealth in the future, and I don't think I can do it shooting.

Any wisdom and advice would be much appreciated.
