Navigating Finnish healthcare
My spouse in his 30s got a hernia which I believe caused by overexertion while training in the gym. This started in May or even earlier can’t remember. He went to private to get checked and was referred to public for surgery, it’s November now and it’s gotten worse. Still nothing from public side. Life quality went downhill after that. Hernia got bigger and walking has gotten difficult. He can only walk a few hundred meters max because of pain, doesn’t go to office anymore luckily he can work remotely. Pain is constant, gotten seizures which I believe may be related to that. You know when you live with someone in pain you just observe things . I have called ambulance a few times even. Moreover we have a small kid 15 months, so I’m caring for everyone. It would be nice for me to go back to working life and have some money for o spend you know, but even that I had to delay I guess. Is the healthcare this bad in Finland, how do we get the care he needs asap. It’s gotten difficult for all of us.
