Unprofessional Experience During Appointment

I took my pet to the URvet Care Upper East Side after a coworker recommended it to me. The doctor and the front office staff were friendly and welcoming. However, something very uncomfortable happened during the visit. While the doctor and I were discussing my pet’s care, someone who appeared to be the boss or owner walked into the room and interrupted the appointment to ask the doctor what she was doing after work.

Not only was the timing unprofessional, but my pet was already anxious, and the interruption made the situation more stressful. It also felt disrespectful to me, as the client, to have my appointment interrupted for a personal conversation. I also felt bad for the doctor, who clearly seemed unable to speak up even though she was in the middle of a patient check.

It’s honestly concerning to see what kinds of people end up running veterinary practices, especially when their behavior affects both staff and patients. Because of how unprofessional the boss’s behavior was, I will not be returning. The doctor and staff were kind, but the environment did not feel respectful or professional.
