Never buying GE appliances again.
I fairly recently had to replace my beautiful GE Profile electric range from around 2007 with a new one. We settled on the GRS60LAV1FS.
It is total garbage and its failing in the most annoying possible way already.
I dont have the exact model of my old one, but it had a capacitive glass touch panel. The new one has some cheap bendable crap that deforms when you use it since you have to push on it hard.
The stainless steel is super thin and not clearcoated. Overall the whole thing is just a huge downgrade in terms of quality. Even the knobs are cheap plastic with metal inserts.
My old one had metal knobs with individual lights for which burner was hot, a flush mount counter top covering glass and all the features that a real range should have.
This new piece of crap has wifi capability that can't be truly disabled without disassembling it too. Like why tf do i need my oven to have vulnerable wifi?
And to top it all off, the thing has developed coil od capacitor whine so loud that causes me physical discomfort.
I know if i call and try to get it fixed, i'll get the runaround, have some guy come out and say he can't hear it since he's lost the ability to hear ultra high pitched sounds, tear the kitchen apart etc.
I know where the sound is coming from, but idk which exact component is doing it. Its coming from behind the control panel and when i put my ear up to it, in addition to the high pitched shrieking, i can hear a sizzling electronic sound as well.
Anyway, Haier ruined GE appliances and i bought this $1000 piece of crap before i knew Haier bought GE. I shoulda done my research!
Now i gotta get rid of this piece of crap and get a real range though!
