Forced to handle food while vomiting
For context- I worked as a breakfast attendant at a hotel. My responsibilities included preparing breakfast, serving it, and cleaning it up. On November 7th 2025 I informed my general manager that I had been vomiting all night and therefore was unable to perform my work duties so I needed to stay home. She informed me through text that if I do not come to work, I would be terminated. Three other breakfast attendants were there that day. When I arrived to the hotel and clocked in, my manager sent ALL three of them home, essentially forcing me (a sick vomiting person) to handle food for several hotel guests-including a high school volleyball team. I worked my shift to the best of my ability, clocked out when I was finished, and I have not been back. I have reported the manager to our local health department as well as OSHA and I am in communications with the hotel company’s corporate office to file a report with them as well. This entire situation was unacceptable and I hope the manager learns her lesson.
