International Parcel Seamail for CD Player, do I purchase protective packaging?

The CD player weighs around 1970g, and I picked seamail since its the cheapest option and im not too worried about the long wait. I am just worried that since this is a heavy (?) electronic item, it might get damaged through the shipping process. I am also unsure if the seller packaged it with bubble wrap to begin with. What is your experience with seamail shipping, especially with an item like this, and should I get protective packaging or no?
