AITA for spending less time with my friends because of ex?
I (25f) was been friends with this guy(33m) for a couple of years before anything happened between us. When I was 19 my father moved to be with his now wife. I was in college at the time so he really fucked me over. I was working part time, going to college, and sleeping at my friend’s houses. Friend offered to let me live with him, and he would take care of everything. There was no way I could refuse that, so that’s what we did. It was just sex at first, that we kept to ourselves but it eventually turned into a real relationship, but at first it was transactional. We were together for a couple of years and broke up as a joint decision. We still respect and like each other so we are friends. My friends know we were in a relationship, but don’t know the nature of it at the beginning.
I have been dating this other guy for about 3 months (we are recently official) He is amazing and I really like him. He asked me after we were around some of my friends if that friend and I had slept together. I didn’t want to lie to him or fuck up a good thing so I told him about it. Since then he has been getting really jealous and hates the guy. I care about my bf more than that friendship, so we decided if that friend was going to be there, I wouldn’t go. That is fine with me but my friends have started to notice. I didn’t want to tell them why, so I told them bf and I are just trying to spend more time together and we have a lot going on. They suspect he is being controlling and pulling me away from my friends. I don’t want my friends to not like my boyfriend, but I can’t get into the whole thing with them or it will make it worse. I told my bf about all of this and how I wish he would bend a little. I told him that I have zero feelings for him and would never jeopardize our relationship. This is a boundary for him and thinks that friend is a POS. I’m doing the right thing right?
