normal optics turning into FLIR/thermal? wtf?

I've noticed a few times recently that my normal optics will suddenly turn FLIR for a few seconds when I ADS. I don't know what causes this but I've recently experienced this with the ROX 1.50x sight and I have no idea wtf is going on
