Do you think there is anything Embark can do to keep the game a balance of friendly and hostile encounters or is full-time KOS inevitable?

Discussion

I've had a real mix of friendly and hostile encounters since launch. A lot of friendly ones, team ups and rescues and some dirty betrayals too. This last weekend was much more hostile and almost no talking at all and it got me wondering. The more I think about it the more I think that eventually the community is going to end up full blown shoot on sight, like other games in the genre. In my personal experience the mix is what makes the game good. If every player encounter is hostile then it's just the same as Marauders or Tarkov, which are less interesting games because of that.

The loading tooltips, the preview videos and the fact we have the emote wheel with "Team-up" and "Don't Shoot" on it make me think Embark does want people to cooperate sometimes. But the more constant hostility gets the more people will default to it (because it's the safe move) and the more these features becoming meaningless.

Now I'm obvious not a game dev so I suspect they've thought about this, but is there even anything they can do? I don't have any ideas but I'm concerned once its just a free for all a lot of the stuff that drew me in will be gone.
