skin bump that two drs were not sure about what it was
Have a new tiny skin bump for a few months, 1-2mm.
First I saw a gyno, who wasn't sure what it was but was certain it wasn't cancer and wanted to leave it alone.
Due to the location I wanted it gone regardless. Went to a private derm who basically said the same thing, "I'm not 100% sure, it looks mostly like a nevus (mole) but the location suggests it could possibly be HPV. If you want to know for certain we can take a biopsy but I don't think it's necessary. Do you want me to remove it for you?" Due to the cost of the biopsy I opted to just have it removed.
Then it came back. Went back to the same derm. This time the derm was "pretty sure it isn't anything contagious" but agreed to make a second attempt at removal.
Is it normal to be told by multiple Drs that "we don't really know what this is"? Do they know and just don't want to tell me, or is it just difficult to ID a skin change that small?
