Is there a good reason to cap the number of Geniemon that can spawn in a mission?

Discussion

I seriously don’t get it. They gate a huge quality-of-life feature behind Geniemon, and then there’s a cap on how many you can farm. Why even have a cap in the first place? Geniemon don’t really contribute much to your power level, they’re more of a convenience feature.

After you hit the weekly mission cap of around 15–20 Geniemon, they just stop spawning for you. The only way to keep farming is to join someone else’s session and hope that their host hasn’t hit the cap yet, just for a chance at spawns.

The weekly boss system is also strange. The five-attempt cap feels way too low. It’d make sense if it only affected character or weapon letters, but even skill materials are locked behind it. Like, if you’re trying to unlock Phantasio but your main is Lumino you have to juggle between the two. And if you’re unlucky and don’t get the enough though for phantasio, you’re stuck waiting an entire week for another chance.

The gating of both skill materials and Geniemon feels weird, especially Geniemon. If you’re chasing perfection, you're not gonna have a good time farming them. Unless you get a shiny, it’s basically a waste to use normal one, since only one trait can be transferred. For example, if you use normal Geniemon and give them two traits, then later find a shiny version, only one of those traits will be able to transfer when you feed the shiny with it. So either way, you lose one trait.
