Changing grip instead of mice - expieriences? (esp. large hands)

I have quite large hands (21,5x11) and tried myself through all the "large" mice. Currently sitting on Pulsar Xlite v4, after returning my Zowie DW.

I always used and had to use some form of fingertip grip due to my long fingers, even on the large mice. Trade off being decent micro adjustments but overall bad stability when it comes to flicks and wider range of movements.

I at one point read that changing the way you grip your mouse has more impact than actually buying a new mouse. And that especially for big hands the meant "big mice" are actually a trap.

Have you successfully changed your grip? What grip do you use now?
