Private in the UK

Diagnosis

I’m hoping there will be UK based women here as my question relates to the system of getting a diagnosis.

I am looking into getting a private assessment on the basis I know that NHS waiting lists and huge, and even times under RTC are months (in my area anyway).

What I really want to do in the first instance is getting an answer. Do I have ADHD or not, and then decide from there what I do medication wise etc if I do have ADHD.

My question is, if I pay for a private assessment now, does this mean I can never go to the NHS for assessment if a shared care plan is not accepted?

I can afford the assessment but the comments around ongoing costs for medication worries me. My brother went private and now has his prescribed by the NHS but he is on the Isle of Man and I think things may be different there.

Has anyone gone private and then been through the same process with the NHS to get medication moved to NHS costs when shared care wasn’t accepted?

Really at the moment all I want is an answer to whether I’m ADHD or not
