Applied to 1000+ Python Jobs with Zero Offers – What Am I Doing Wrong?

Topic

Hi everyone, I'm seeking career advice and would greatly appreciate your input.

I have a chemistry degree (not CS) and transitioned into software development through online courses (CS50, freeCodeCamp, MIT OCW) and a couple of offline bootcamps focused on full-stack Python development and data science. Somehow, I landed a full-stack developer role at a media company as part of their pipeline team, where I've been working for a year now using FastAPI, React, PySide, and Python.

I feel stuck frequently and don't think I'm good enough at my job yet, which worries me at 25. I've applied to almost a thousand Python backend positions with zero offers. I'm trying to figure out my next steps.

My Question: Should I focus on building more projects with Python backend frameworks, or should I go back and strengthen my CS fundamentals? I came across teachyourselfcs.com, and I'm wondering if that's what I need.

Finally, I aim to work at a FAANG company.

Any advice on what to prioritize would be really helpful. Thanks!
