Felt weirdly empty after a party — but it wasn’t jealousy
First post, so I don't really know how it works, but we'll see. Male, 22 years old, single and virgin.
I just wanted to get this off my chest because it’s been on my mind for a few days.
I was at a small party with four friends — five of us total, including a couple. At the end of the night, two of the others ended up sleeping together. Nothing shocking, everyone knew, it just happened naturally.
I ended up on the couch, unable to sleep. But it wasn’t jealousy. Not at all. I have no desire to lose my virginity with someone I barely know, who’s moving away soon anyway — and definitely not in the room next to my best friend and his girlfriend.
It was just this strange, empty feeling. Not frustration, not envy — more like being out of sync, like a spectator watching everyone else connect while I’m on the sidelines. I’ve never been in a relationship or had sex, and I think that adds to it.
Seeing people have those moments doesn’t make me jealous, but it does make me feel something. Not even sadness, just… a quiet kind of loneliness.
TL;DR: Two people hooked up at a small party, I didn’t sleep all night. Not jealous, just felt weirdly empty and left out. Never been in a relationship, never had sex, and I think that hit me harder than I expected.
