Anyone in Irvine dealt with payday loans? Need to know what I'm getting into

I know Irvine isn't exactly the place where people talk about needing payday loans but here I am. My rent just went up and I'm short about $700 this month while waiting for a paycheck from my new job to clear.

I haven't seen as many payday loan places here compared to other cities I've lived in, but I know they exist. I'm trying to figure out if there are any around here that aren't completely predatory or if I should look at options in neighboring cities.

Has anyone actually used one and been able to pay it off without it becoming a disaster? I can cover it in about 10 days when my direct deposit hits but I'm worried about fees stacking up.

Just feeling kind of embarrassed about this whole situation honestly but I need to figure something out fast.
