Baby practically sleeps through the night at 8ws, i'm so happy!

Babies Being Babies

My baby finally, for the most part, sleeps through the night and has a schedule at 8 weeks, i'm so happy to be getting mostly 6hrs of sleep. It took a while with her 6-8w fussiness and adjustment.

Figuring out how she likes sleeping took a long time but finally figured it out. For the first 2 weeks, she slept in her crib fine, but after she hit her 3-4w growth spurt, she hated it and would scream if i put her in it. So i co slept with her and hated every minute (i don't agree with co sleeping, personally). She hated the small oval sized bassinet i did have so that was out too.. I ended up getting a pack and play with a bassinet in it at 5w (i was putting off because i couldn't really afford one on maternity leave, but ended up having to buy one early) and she started sleeping great in the raised bassinet part during the day, at night she was random if she would..i bought a second one so I could remove the crib and sleep in our bed, with random nights, its more functional to sleep in the living room still.. Then at 8w (currently), i removed the raised part of the pack and play and she loves it. It reminds her of floor time (which is her favorite, she spends most of her wake time on the floor so happy) and she actually sleeps. Sometimes she fusses in her sleep, same as before she passes back out.. Drives me nuts and feel like i have to do something but i stop myself. Nothing is wrong, she just does that.

Being at the end of the fussiness she goes through days where she'll be awake most mornings, sleep all mid day (fights me on it, wants to stay up), be up a little in the afternoon, but by 530pm she gets hit with sleepy. I feed her, make sure she's asleep, and then put her down, she'll sleep, wake herself up, and then fuss herself to sleep (not screaming crying, just whiny fussiness noises, same level as coos), it annoys me, but she's not wailing (which i would pick her up for, not doing cry it out method at 8w) so i just let her fuss it out. It works and now i'm getting sleep! She sleeps between 8p-130am (8-11p is another feeding), then cries to be changed and fed, and then down again at 130am, stays up until she then passes out (anywhere from 30-90 minutes) until 5-6am, her next feeding. I could go back to sleep until 9-1030am (her time to get up in the morning), but after 6hrs sleep its hard to go back so i stay up.. Then she's wide awake at 1030am, usually, and happy all morning. Her most cheerful time.

But, apparently, she'll only sleep in pack and plays. Whatever works and i don't have to co sleep with her anymore. Its not for me. Idk how parents do it.

I'm just glad to be out of the newborn stage. It was the worst. I'm sure I'll look back with rose tinted glasses (as I'm already phasing into) but I'm not having another until she's a toddler, if i do. Lol.
