When a wife's dream could ruin the lifelong work of her husband, do you sacrifice one career for another?

My friend is a respected physicist, married with two kids, living a comfortable middle-class life. Recently, his wife got a breakthrough in her acting career. Six months later, she’s asking the family to move to another state because she landed a major role in a TV series that could earn them millions over the years.

She feels the move is justified, since the money could dramatically improve the family’s lifestyle and financial security. My friend, however, is deeply committed to his research and believes he’s on the threshold of a major scientific breakthrough. Leaving now could mean abandoning years of work and losing the momentum of his career.

Should they prioritize the financial opportunity for his wife? or the career fulfillment of my friend?
