I'm sick and tired of the way movie trailers are edited these days

Discussion

All trailers are just edited the same way and have been for the past several years. The same damn rhythmic percussions and "intensity rising" sound effects, with some annoying modern-day hip-hop song to accompany them. Not to mention all of the excessive on-screen text like those "critics' quotes" and Cannes logos, and the overuse of the same transition where a scene cuts to black then immediately fades into another. As for the trailers showing everything, well, that's always happened since the beginning of trailers, as unlike modern movie trailers, where the lengths for each shot got smaller, the more shots editors are able to add into the average 2 minute and 30 second runtime, older movie trailers like those of the 80s and below had them running for 3 minutes or more, and a majority of the shots featured in them lasted a bit longer than they should've.

You know what my favorite trailer in recent memory was? The Holdovers? Why? Because it didn't have all of this bullshit I listed! Granted when I rewatched it online it had that 5-second "Trailer starts now" bumper, but outside of that, it was actually quote refreshing to see an old-fashioned looking trailer mixed with some more modern sensibilities for once, and the way it came out look perfect. Hell, it even had a voice-over narration to boot, and say what you will about those, but man do I miss hearing those in movie trailers so goddamn much.

Sorry to vent. Just wanted to get this movie-related concern off my chest.
