Cruise control not working

I have a gen 3 duke 390, it's run about 2k kms so far. On a recent ride, I noticed that the cruise control refuses to come on. I press the cruise control button and the yellow icon comes. Then when I press the + or - button to set the speed, nothing happens. And this is random, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

The switches are fine btw since speed control works perfectly. Anyone else facing a similar issue?
