ADHD coaching

General Question/Discussion

Hello 👋

I'm a 32 year old NHS nurse, diagnosed last year with ADHD and now suspected autism.

I'm currently going through the worst burnout I've ever had, literally like a cognitive decline, it's been awful. I've been off work since the end of September and I cannot imagine going back. I work on an acute ward and I don't know how I'm going to go back to that kind of environment.

I love my parts of my job, the helping others, caring for the vulnerable and those who are acutely unwell, but the environment is making me very unwell.

I would love to continue a career in helping others and have read a lot about the potential for ADHD coaching, but I don't know where to even start.

I'm aware there are courses but these cost a fair amount of money. I wondered if my personal experience and nursing qualifications would suffice.

Do you need to be insured? Do you need qualifications in this field? A lot of my research has mixed results. Some coach from personal experience and others complete these courses.

Any advice would be most appreciated. The thought of stepping away from nursing scares me, but I also need to consider how badly it's effecting my health. The thought of helping others in a similar situation would be so amazing.

Thanks in advance 🩷
