This had been a long time coming, as in, the last time they were in Finland was in 1999… :D But man oh man, what a gig.

If you happen to like industrial rock that is artistically original and of the highest order delivered with skill and precision while also retaining both nuanced and raw emotion… The Young Gods has your back, those guys are supremely talented.

And for fucks sake, they are already well in their 60s (well, the singer/guitarist/founder Franz Treichler is, he was born in 1961). But he still had that enigmatic energy on stage, not just going through the motions like some of the acts of thev same age (they started in 1985).

The gig was just amazing performance wise, and the setting/venue supported this. Very intimate, energetic, wonderful sound quality, couldn’t help but move to the music. It was a long set too, not the usual 45 minutes + kthanxbye! that you get from some of the older acts.

Aside from the antics of some of the more drunk audience members, or the sauced up couple right in front of me who smelled of cheap sauvignon blanc, BO, and belched out garlic döner kebab fumes, who btw. also thought they had come to a some kind of a conversation club instead of a gig, it was a 10/10 night.

And if you haven’t heard of them before, I highly recommend giving them a spin. Personal favorites include ”T.V. Sky” and ”Only Heaven”, they might be the most accessible albums.

Still kind of floating high from that gig… ☺️
