DMT: The U.S. healthcare system is intentionally designed to confuse and frustrate people so it can extract maximum money for minimal care

Every part of the system feels built to wear you down, not to heal you.Hospitals often can’t tell you what something costs before you get it. Prices for prescriptions, screenings, or procedures are vague or even hidden. Bills sometimes change once you request an itemized version. Insurance companies make it extremely difficult to use the benefits you already pay hundreds of dollars a month for.

If this were any other industry, that level of opacity and manipulation would not be acceptable. You would know exactly what you are paying for, and companies would need to earn your trust and business. But in healthcare, it feels reversed. You are the one inconvenienced, even though you are the one footing the bill.

I know there are good doctors and nurses, and I want to believe that not every company is trying to exploit people. But from the outside, it feels like everything is deliberately complicated to maximize profit rather than care.

People who work in the system or understand how it functions, is there any valid reason it has to be this way?Is it inefficiency, necessity, or design?
