Denied Healthcare under EHIC
Hi there.
Today I walked into a Health Center to see a doctor as a European Union citizen with the European Health Insurance Card, but was denied an appointment due to my condition not being life threatening. The nurse told me I cannot book an appointment on the same terms as Finnish citizens and if I want to see the doctor I’ll have to pay 200e. After reading more about EHIC rules, it’s clear to me that I shouldn’t have been denied health care - especially if all I wanted was seeing a GP doctor.
What can I do in this situation? Do I have to pay the 200e? Is this a standard thing in health centres?
