[SIMO.io](https://simo.io/) is a wire‑first, local‑first, open‑source smart‑home system built for pros and serious DIYers. Your hub runs at home. Panels on DIN rail do the real‑world work. A ceiling device (Sentinel) adds true 3D presence and voice. Describe what you want in the app; we generate a readable Python script you can edit anytime. No fragile clouds, no YAML puzzles—just a calm system that keeps its promises.

What makes it different

* Wire‑first backbone: We prefer Ethernet + PoE so power and data ride the same cable. Put your router, hub and PoE switch on a UPS and your control plane keeps breathing through outages. Local loops mean a button can still drive a light even if the hub is unreachable.
* Local authority hub: Your scenes, lighting, HVAC and security run on‑prem. The hub ships with real hardware (Intel N100, 8 GB RAM, SSD, rescue USB) and a sane backup/restore flow so a bad day is a 20‑minute drill, not a rebuild.
* Panels, not gadgets: Our DIN‑rail controller (The Game Changer) centralizes I/O. Snap in relays, AC/DC dimmers, binary inputs, DALI and I²C modules. Swap a module if it fails; you don’t re‑pair a hundred entities. Need more I/O? Add an extender—no rewiring weekends.
* Sentinel in each room: A single ceiling device brings 60 GHz mmWave 3D presence, VOC/air and lux sensing, plus a built‑in 100 dB siren—and room‑aware voice that already knows your rooms and scenes.
* AI that writes code you own: Tell the app what you want (“After dark, hallway to 30% for 2 minutes after motion; don’t lower a manual override”). We return a clean Python script you can open in Admin and tune like normal software. Generated once, then runs locally.
* Mobile first, superuser backed: Commission whole homes from your phone. When you want power tools, jump into Django Admin or key‑only SSH. Role‑based permissions make hand‑offs to owners, guests and crews clean.
* Open by design: Code you can inspect and extend. Python/Django integrations (Sonos, Z‑Wave, HVAC, and more) without YAML spaghetti.

Try it in 2 minutes (no hardware)

* Install the [SIMO.io](https://simo.io/) app on iOS or Android and open the Demo House to explore scenes, components and scripts. Poke around before you wire a thing.

What we want to learn from you

* What’s your biggest reliability pain today—pairing, backups, radio meshes, or vendor clouds?
* If you’re on HA/Hubitat/HomeKit/etc., what would make you switch—or what would we need to integrate first?
* Where should a room‑device earn its keep for you: presence, air quality, voice, alarm, or all of the above?
* For pros/integrators: what slows your jobs—commissioning, hand‑over, or maintenance?

We’re here We’ll be in the thread answering everything—architecture critiques welcome.

Pro‑grade Smart Home, finally: PoE backbone, local hub, open‑source, and a room device that actually knows you’re there
