Weekend in Wrexham

Hi all, for Christmas i’m thinking of staying in Wrexham as my partner wants to go to Chester Zoo and we’ve both said we want to visit wales. I’ve looked at smaller places like Llangollen for a relaxing weekend but accom and getting there from Yorkshire is proving £££.

We like nice pubs, good food and a cosy atmosphere. Is Wrexham good for that? I only know Bootlegger and of course the football club so a local’s input would be much appreciated! Thanks!
