Is switching even possible? DL to AA?

I’m platinum for the last 3 years and I do like the perks. Amex card so also get Centurion access.
Many of my flights require a 3hour drive to the nearest Delta airport, but it’s an easy highway drive. (Low traffic, high desert) American serves the local airport. How would I even begin to get started transferring my status and how do I manage to get AA status?
