Let's talk about Billy

Major spoilers if you havn't seen past season 3.

Doing a complete rewatch in preperation for the new season. Billy was an asshole to say in the least. He hurt everyone around him and was phisically abusive. That being said, the guy still didn't deserve to go out the way he did. El helped him find one of the few happy memories he has and that memory was a human enough experience to break him free of the mind flayer's possession.

He did spend most of the season possesed but we see some of his humanity in the sauna room as well, right before the mind flayer takes control. My question is do you think him sacrificing himself and telling Max that he's sorry makes up for everything he's done?

I would've loved to see him survive the events that took place at the mall and have a real character arc and help the gang during the season 4 events. I genuinely think he would've made a change for the better, had he survived, because as mean and bad as he is, there is still a loving brother way deep down and it would take almost dying to remind him of that.
