Did you know in 1995 they did a quasi spin-off of inspector gadget called Gadget Boy & Heather aka Gadget Boy's Adventures in History?

Gadget Boy is voiced by Don Adams who did Inspector Gadget in the original. The voices are identical. The story has no connection whatsoever to the original, and is focused on time travel. Also He has a robot dog named G-9 and Tara Strong voices his nanny Heather.

And was he a child who was mangled in a horrible accident and then rebuilt? Or was he a construct from the start? And if he is, how is he just wandering around with a nanny and a robot dog? Shouldn't he be in a lab somewhere being tested? And not even just wandering around the world, wandering through god dang time! WTF are the bionic scientists doing?

Or even worse, did they take gadget's brain, wipe his memories, and stick him in a child body!
