Should I be concerned about a situation in our apartment building?

this happened 3 days ago, but still cannot get it of my head.

I was going back home around 10 PM, and I met two really weird guys (one of them a gipsy, who unfortunately have a bad reputation here). Both looked like complete drug addicts and smelled really bad. I could actually hear them already from the first floor (and they were on the fourth). They were super loud and groaning about how hard it was to get up the stairs. One of them even sounded relieved that they finally made it up. I could hear all of this from the ground floor when I entered the building.

So I met them on the fourth floor and saw them unlock the apartment normally (keep in mind they also had keys to the main building entrance, otherwise they wouldn’t get in). As weird as they were, I wasn’t happy to meet them, but they clearly had keys.

However, about an hour and a half later (around 23:30), I heard them leave the apartment. We live on the fifth floor, and they were loud again. They knocked on the door directly across from us (nobody lives there). Then they started knocking harder, and then very hard, and constantly ringing the bell. They were also looking at the name tags and even went one floor up, just to check if there were apartments there (there aren’t).

I got afraid they were going after me because I saw them when they entered earlier. Also, there used to be a decent guy living in that apartment they came out of, but I haven’t seen him for some time, so I started thinking maybe they killed him and somehow got hold of the apartment, and then went after me since I saw them enter. Or maybe were smuggling drugs or something.

My girlfriend was trying to look through the peephole, and it’s possible they were holding telescopic sticks (but we’re not 100% sure).

I haven’t seen them since.
