Intentionally losing slow

CW: IWL (intentional weight loss)

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one intentionally trying to lose slowly. Am I? I figure this group is bound to have people similar to me in this regard. I’ve been on Zepbound since 6/2024 and I’m still on 7.5mg, transitioning soon to 10mg.

I could’ve gone up faster but when I’ve lost a lot in the past it felt really triggering and like my brain couldn’t catch up to my body. I’ve made a lot of progress mentally about all this, especially this time, after working on body neutrality and intuitive eating for years before even knowing glp-1s existed. However, the getting smaller thing still gets me sometimes. I choose to focus instead on getting stronger, having better balance and feeling better in my body overall than taking up less space in the physical world.

I guess I’ll also add that in the past I had done WW where I was weighed every week and it felt like it was a “grade” that told me if I did a good job or not. Now, with a smart scale that has more info about body composition, I’ve changed to weighing myself every day (with an option to “blind weigh” so it’s recorded but I don’t have to see it) and it’s really helped me see that number as just another data point. It’s also opened my eyes to how much water weight I gain after eating something that is high carb (due to the body using more water to process it) and throughout menstrual cycles. It’s become something that’s more of a curiosity than a grade, which feels very healing. I know that this isn’t the case for everyone, and that’s ok. Everything is individualized for each of us and some ideas seem great for some and not others.

I guess I don’t have a specific question with this post, just looking for people that are similar to me. Good luck to all on your journeys, whether in the physical, the mind, or both. 💙🩶
