Share experiences/thoughts on military larping and stolen valor

I have a friend in Vietnam working as a teacher. There’s a student in her class who comes decked out in military gear every lesson (with helmets and all) claiming he worked in the U.S for 6 months with a PMC. He is 21 years old currently and is NOT a U.S citizen or PR. He brags about firing weapons to protect bank trucks and basically being a soldier to his young classmates. I think it’s pretty funny as Ive met people like that when I was a student. Some would dress up as pilots, soldiers, wear three layer suit during summer months claiming to be involved in some extracurricular courses. I guess it’s understandable kids want validation and to be seen as cool. Ive seen quite a few instances where young men here brag about war and guns, claiming to have very big yet secret connections with government/military. In most of these cases its entirely made up or heavily exaggerated. Feel free to share ur thoughts and experiences on this below and how it could potentially cross the line from hobby/interest to a more serious issue.
