Suggestions for costume idea: Cordycep Fairy

Hellooo! Just as the title says: I want to be a fairy that was taken over by a cordyceps type parasite. Right now, my ideas were to go for an all-white look, like everything was sucked out of me- borderline stone. But looking through pictures a lot of them are red and orange so I was thinking maybe I should lean in that direction?

I'm also deciding between doing mushrooms like the last of us inspired kind of look or doing the staff type of look seen on real insects.

I'd love to hear any other thoughts or ideas on how to make this come to life!
