Winter Tire Recommendation?

This will be my first winter in Denver. I live down in the DTC and I rarely drive up into the mountain area, but I do drive for Uber somewhat regularly and primarily stay within the city.

I'll also be taking a multi-day driving trip to and from California for Thanksgiving.

I want to get a fresh set of tires that will serve my needs best before the first snow, but I want the tires to work before and after my California trip. What type should I get? All weather? All season? Or get a separate set of winter tires for when I'm back in Denver? Or... Something else?
