Your first 10 minutes inside Shopify will decide your results
Momentum dies so fast when you have that inspiration to start your online store.
I feel you have 10 minutes to get moving. But, maybe it's my ADHD taking over LOL
Let's look at things you can do fast to keep that momentum going.
-
Your first move inside Shopify isn’t picking a theme. It’s getting clear on what you sell and who you sell to. Lock in your offer before touching a single design setting. It saves hours of backtracking later.
-
Go straight to Settings and set up your store name, business details, and payment provider. Nothing kills momentum faster than forgetting this and finding out your checkout doesn’t work.
-
Add your first product early, even if it’s a draft. Seeing a real product in your dashboard makes the platform feel less overwhelming and helps you learn faster.
Note: Use Shopify Magic to help out with this. Trust me, it's worth it.
- Pick a simple theme. Beginners waste entire weekends hunting for “the perfect look.” Start with something clean, publish it, and customize as you grow.
Note: and once again let Shopify Magic build it out for you. If you need to use a theme check these ones out.
-
Set your navigation before you touch colors or fonts. A messy menu makes your store look unfinished and confuses customers instantly.
-
Turn on essential apps only. A review app, an email tool, and maybe one for upsells. Everything else can wait. Too many apps slow your store and your brain.
-
Customize your product pages with real language. Skip the generic descriptions. Explain why someone should care, what makes the product different, and how it helps.
-
Test your checkout like a real customer. Walk through each step. Notice what feels confusing. Fix it while your store is still small and easy to refine.
-
Set up your domain early. A custom domain instantly makes your store feel legitimate and motivates you to keep building.
-
Publish the store before you feel ready. Beginners wait for perfection and never launch. Launching early gives you real data to improve with instead of guessing.
There you go. Try not to break the internet with them.
