This happens to my mom.

When she entered the station, she tried swiping her physical MTA card twice, but it didn’t go through. Then the tap-to-pay machine made a ‘ding’ sound, as if it charged a card, and let her through—even though her phone was in my pocket and my credit card was in my bag.

It charged my twice this morning and once yesterday..
