Possibilities for in-game advertising

QUESTION

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to understand what realistic options exist for brand integrations inside Fortnite — and how they differ in terms of feasibility, cost, and process. Hoping some creators, UEFN devs, or people who've done brand deals can share real experience.

I see three possible paths:

1. Creating an Own Custom Fortnite Creative / UEFN Island

This one seems straightforward: a brand commissions a studio to build a fully custom island with branded gameplay elements.
I’m familiar with how this process works.

But the other two options below are less clear to me ⬇️

2. Official Collaboration With Epic Games (e.g., full collab seasons like The Simpsons, or Nike in-game cosmetics)

Is this even realistic for a normal product brand (e.g., food & beverage)?

My current assumptions — please correct me if I’m wrong:

  • These major collabs (e.g., entire season themes, custom cosmetics, or integration into official Epic-made maps) seem to be reserved for massive entertainment franchises or iconic brands.
  • I haven’t seen any consumer product brands being integrated at this “official Epic” level.
  • Budget-wise: I assume this is extremely expensive, probably in the millions, not in the hundreds of thousands — correct?
  • Would a traditional product brand even be considered here, or is that basically impossible/uncommon?

If anyone knows real examples or can confirm whether this is achievable at all, I’d love to hear about it.

3. Integrating Into an Existing Popular Community/Creative Map

This is the part I’m MOST confused about.

Is it possible for a brand to partner with the creators of an already successful Creative map and integrate branding there for a fixed period (e.g., 3–4 weeks)?

Questions:

  • Are there any known cases of brands integrating directly into a popular Creative community map?
  • How does the process work legally and technically?
  • Do you just contact the map creators directly?
  • Are there studios behind these maps or is it mostly small creator groups?
  • How do you handle pricing, contracts, approvals, etc.?

Example:
Let’s say I identify a huge community map like Go Goated! Zone Wars.
Is it theoretically possible to approach the creators and ask for a branded banner, billboard, or short-term sponsored integration on their map?

Or are there Epic restrictions preventing ads inside community maps?

What I’m trying to understand:
Is this actually being done in practice? And if yes — how do negotiations and implementations usually work?
