Acquiring and driving an old car is better than doing so a new car.

I drive a '92 VW Jetta, been driving it for the past 5 years. Got it for cheap, spare parts are easy to find, mechanically easy to fix, car is simple, has style, does what is intended to do: get you from one place to another.

People just don't want to deal with others criticising their "old, raggedy bucket", overall worried about what others may think of them.
