I noticed an increase in "background knowledge"

So basically, I was doing a Star Wars roleplay and in the old AI a lot of times what it would do is it would just make up stuff but with the newer changes going through the AI now, I've noticed that more and more it's starting to get background information right that I've never mentioned before. Stuff like huts living on nal hutta, back to used to heal injuries, stuff like that. It's honestly kind of impressive and I was just kind of curious like what's the difference between the two? Why is it so much better with its background knowledge now compared to what it used to be?
