Does the Hive Mind Build its Personality off Patient 0?
As the show continues, it definitely feels like the hive mind its own person in many ways. Immature and highly rigid in its philosophy and rules, but seemingly extremely empathetic and caring. Also very smart and scientifically oriented and knowledgeable. Sure these can all be explained by it having all of humanity at its disposal for skills and knowledge. But theres plenty of uneducated people floating ariund in the 7 billion it swallowed up. Nothing to say why its so calm and empathetic and passive. Could be explained by how the virus itself works, but also I've been thinking maybe the personality all grows from the first host of the species.
The doctor at the medical lab is the first human infected, for all we see. We dont know much about her other than she seems like an average American woman, but shes also a scientist. And she reveals how uncomfortable she is with killing animals. (Talks to her coworker about not wanting to gas all the rats). Its a stretch for now I think, but maybe there's something to that being the basis of the hives "personality".
