Diverticulitis and motility issues

I just left the hospital for diverticulitis. After healing will do colonoscopy to see which part of colon needs to be removed. Also, my colon is full of diverticula and also have motility issues. I also have a history of polyps and usually have 7 or 8 removed. Family history of colon, rectal and pancreatic cancers. I have been miserable for a long time and get diverticulitis every year or so. I have two questions, how was the resection recovery of the colon and also how does a stimulator help. Told it's like a pacemaker for the butt...lol. It's making my life miserable. I'm 77 and not sure how much time I have left but don't want whatever I have left to be like it is now. Always in pain. People take pooping for granted...until you can't. When I was in the hospital the hospitalist told me about the stimulator. When I asked my gastro doc about it he never heard about it. That makes me nervous. Should I look for a specialist who knows more about it. I keep on top of everything due to family history. I'm a 77 white female and have had issues for years. Seems things got worse after covid. I had covid end of 2023 and was unconscious for 2 days before being found. After that I had a scan and they thought I had cancer of the omentum. Did a biopsy and found it was inflammation from covid. I don't smoke, stopped about 20 years ago. Also have a history of hernias, abdomen and diaphragm and after thoracotomy the hernia is back. Had radiation for meningioma that is next to brainstem. Total hysterectomy and rectocele repair (probably due to 5 children).
