Did your milk supply drop after baby was sick? Did it come back?

Support Needed

Hi everyone. I’m kind of stressed and just looking for other moms’ experiences.

My 7-month-old had a stomach bug a few days ago and barely nursed for about 3 days. We ended up in the ER because she was getting dehydrated. She’s doing better now, but since she nursed so much less, my milk supply has definitely dipped. My breasts feel super soft and “empty”. I pumped this AM and literally got nothing, which has never happened to me before. When I was building my small stash, I was able to get at least 2 oz in the morning after her feed. Besides that I never pump and just feed her directly from the breast.

She’s nursing more (at the time of writing this it is day 4), but much less than her usual amount. I’m doing short pumping sessions after some feeds just to try to signal my body, but I’m worried I messed everything up and that my supply won’t come back.

Has anyone else been through this after their baby was sick? Did your supply bounce back once they were eating normally again? How long did it take?

Just looking for reassurance or advice from moms who have been there. Thank you 💛
